When Your Lips Touched
You think your lips touched mine
but that's only in fact
a partial truth
for your sweet lips
touched
to the depths of my heart
conveying
not simply passion's plea
but love's desire
that brings to fullness
and completeness
the hope that will inspire
each of us
to seek the other's good
to care
with tender faithfulness
to needs
some of which
the other may be ignorant
or unsure
for when love is real
it is not
for the moment alone
but for a lifetime
and when
lips touch more than lips
and penetrate
to the depths of the heart
then you have love
and this is a wonder so very fine.
